Irfan Rashid is a senior assistant professor at the Department of Geoinformatics in University of Kashmir, India. His research focuses on glacier-climate interactions, glacier-related hazards, alpine vegetation dynamics and lake and wetland ecosystems. He received his Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad on the topic “Assessing the climate change impacts on vegetation distribution in Kashmir Himalayas”. He was awarded Young Scientist medal for 2019 by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). He is a member of Indian Meteorological Society, Indian Society of Remote Sensing and Indian Society of Geomatics.
