Paulo Artaxo is a professor of environmental physics at University of São Paulo Brazil. He is a member of Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the IPCCIntergovernamental Panel on Climate Change. He was elected member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, member of TWAS (The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World) and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is an Emeritus Researcher from CNPq. In 2007, he was honored with the TWAS (The Academy of Sciences of the Developing World) Earth Science Prizeand the Award Dorothy Stang. In 2016, he received the "Premio Almirante Álvaro Alberto" from MCTI, CNPq, Brazilian Navy and Fundação Conrad Wessel.
