Shiladitya Chatterjee is Head of the Poverty Unit and Poverty Practice Leader in Asian Development Bank. Educated at Presidency College, Calcutta (BA); Delhi School of Economics (MA); and Boston University (Ph.D.), he has worked in academics; administration (in the Indian Administrative Service); and international development (at the Asian Development Bank). In India, he worked on grassroots level development issues in Assam; at the Finance Ministry on Centre-State financial relations; and as Director, Prime Minister’s Office in supporting the economic reforms of 1991-1994. Since 2000, he has focused on poverty reduction and sustainable development. Currently he advises state, Central Government and UN agencies intermittently on implementing the SDGs and continues research on development issues.
